What are Debit Card Fraud Alerts?
Debit Card Fraud Alerts are notifications delivered to your cell phone between the hours of 8am - 9pm if a debit card purchase is made that is considered suspicious.
How do Debit Card Fraud Alerts work?
When we see a debit card transaction that is not ‘normal’ for you, we will send you a text message with the details. Once you see the text you can review the details and confirm or deny you initiated the transaction. If it’s a good transaction, confirm you attempted the transaction and run your card again. The purchase will then work just fine. If it’s a fraudulent transaction, deny you attempted the transaction and we will freeze your card so no additional fraud can happen and we will contact you to place an order for a new debit card.
Do I need to enroll in Debit Card Fraud Alerts?
No. If you have a Macatawa Bank Debit Card and we have your cell phone number in our records, you will automatically receive text messages from the Debit Card Fraud Alert program if we suspect fraudulent activity.
Are there any fees related to Debit Card Fraud Alerts?
Macatawa Bank does not charge a fee for this service. The texts are "Free Messages" which means you won't pay anything for them, even from your cell phone carrier.
How can I make sure you have my cell phone number so I can be sure the alerts get sent to me?
Contact us to update or verify your cell number, either by visiting your local branch or calling our Customer Experience Team (877) 820-2265 who can add or update your cell phone number.
How can I un-enroll from Debit Card Fraud alerts?
Simply reply ‘STOP’ when you receive a text message or contact our Customer Experience Team at (877) 820-2265 and we can remove the service from your account.
